Why wouldn't they? I'm especially curious because humans are apes, yet we exist.

The theory of evolution states that monkeys evolved into apes, which evolved into humans. If something evolves to survive, the ones that didn't evolve would die. That means monkeys would be dead, yet monkeys are still alive. My point proven.

The fact that you think that's what evolution is means I'm not gonna take you seriously. Learn what it actually is before you go on saying "If evolution is real, how come apes exist?". I'm sorry if that's harsh but you clearly don't understand biological evolution.
