Greed, plain and simple. They won't disclose the exact content of TTK and expect us to pay a ridiculous price for it (I remember buying expansion packs for about £20, some of which had more individual and unique [plus story] content than the Destiny base game). TTK could well be one of the most blatant mainstream cons ever pulled.
Charging UK players like myself £40 ($60+) while providing zero extra content to actually justify that price hike is plain extortion. I just pre-ordered MGSV for £41, a game already shown to have a monumental amount of content. I bought Arkham Knight for £37, and that wasn't lacking in content, story or characters either. There is absolutely no reason for TTK to be as expensive as it is. No other current games are hiked up for the UK in this manner, and I think they're going to get a painful wake-up when they realise more people have forked out for other titles with more content for the same (or less) amount of money instead of taking a blind leap with TTK.
I'd buy it if it were cheaper, and that's the stupid thing. They seem to have failed to realise that even if they earned less per copy, they'd probably sell more copies overall if the price was dropped.

The other thing I find very telling is that they have yet to provide a categorical explanation or respond in any way to the furore that TTK pricing has generated. (unless I have missed this somewhere?) They clearly don't give a $hit about the opinions of their loyal gamers. I have paid £75 (over $100) for Destiny so far - £40 for base game and £35 for the expansions and I reckon there is less content here than in the base game for Borderlands 2. There's certainly less than Bungies own Halo series - I suspect the publisher has them by the short and curlies. Given Halo 5 and Fallout 4 are out soon after TTK I reckon I'll commit my time to them instead.
