The gun will still be good, what other gun will be able to lay 18 rounds into a boss without reloading at all? That will still be very useful and effective. But there are a lot of reasons that will justify it: 1. People use it to cheese raids/strikes/missions. We are about to get new of all of those, the last thing bungie wants is us not to experience these new raids, missions, and strikes, and instead sit in the corner and snipe someone with infinite ammo. 2. How long can sitting in a corner infinitely sniping a boss stay fun? Allowing this hurts the replay ability of the game. Making the game more challenging, for most, makes the game more fun, and makes in replayable for much longer. 3. There is no way they can come up with a more powerful sniper whether exotic or legendary with this perk the way it is. Future games the best they could do to compete with what Black Hammer was would be to reskin it (then just let the complaining begin after that). Or never make a sniper as good again (then just let the complaining begin after that as well). To be honest they should have seen this issue before they even released the gun with infinite ammo, the real issue was giving us the gun in the first place, not the fixing of it. 4. The perk made it more powerful then all of the exotic snipers out there. People were effectively walking around with 2 exotic weapons equipped. 5. Just like Gjallarhorn, some people were using it as a requirement to party up with them, as in their reasoning with Gjallarhorn they do not want that happening with any weapons. I understand you liked the weapon how it is, and you enjoyed using it. But I would hope most people can at least see why it was done and understand it. There will be more weapons for you to grind for in the future, and there are plenty of other fun snipers out there to use right now.

  • Good points, but the solution I would have liked to see would be a major decrease in reserve ammo. If the reserve ammo was at 6, you'd max out at about 2 chains before you'd need to go find ammo. I just really like the perk because chaining is a very satisfying feeling

  • Get a solar spear, roll it for triple tap, clown cartridge, and flared mag well or whatever the new perk is called and it's better than black hammer is going to be after patch

  • Good idea, I might grab one when I'm done with Saggy Banana. I'm also very happy with my old one with surplus, field scout and clown cartridge though. Ammo for days.

  • Unfortunately you can't roll the new ones with field scout, but you can get casket mag or extended mag. I just don't remember what Stat it sacrifices.

  • I'm pretty sure it reduces the stability. I don't really have the materials left to roll another spear anyways, I already have 4 with good rolls. The addiction to rolling weapons is real, I do it compulsively these days.

    I guess I fail to see the harm in "shortcutting" boring as hell roadblock bosses. Spending 2 minutes vs 5 on the tank or Vaalus, or even the Archon priest lets me move on to enjoy other content faster. You're not bypassing mechanics, you are just speeding up the encounter It's not like it's some insane PvP game ræper like Thorn is. It's not like you always land the Crits, either. It actually does take skill. Honestly, I really think Bungie needs to sit down and think "if we make a change, will it make players happy and make them have enough fun to stick with this, even with Fallout 4 and Battlefront on the horizon?" Case in point: the PvE shotgun buff. Tell me that week wasn't the most fun you had after a patch in PvE.

  • He's calling it chessing by sitting back where the boss can't shoot you and sniping (ie: devil walker pipe spot) which I am inclined to agree with is cheesy

  • Seriously. The only strike I can "cheese" with Black Hammer is Sepiks and I can't stay in the same spot unless it's the devil walker part. I think those points exaggerated how efficient Black Hammer actually is.

  • Actually, almost every PvE activity Boss/high-health entity can be "cheesed" using the Black Hammer. -Devil Walker and Sepiks Prime -Goliath Tank and Valus Ta'arauc -Sekrion -Atheon (with a small amount of skill) -Skolas -Archon Priest -Templar -Gorgons -Swordbearers -Phogoth (a little more difficult, still easily possible) -Any Servitor -Any Ogre -Any Knight -Any Captain/Kell/Archon -Any Hydra -Any Colossus -Any Cyclops -Any high-health enemy with a critical point that can be hit with any amount of skill

  • The templar can't be cheesed in anyway. His shield goes up after a time. You won't get more than 8 shots on him before his shield goes up. Snipers with field scout have 6. Not much of a difference Archon Priest, Servitors, Ogres. Knights, Hydra, Colossus and cyclops aren't bosses. They're minibosses. Atheon can't be cheesed by BH. You still have to go through teleport, shoot oracles and come out safely.. Killing him in one teleport isn't cheesing. If you can survive one teleport, you should be able to survive two or 3. Skolas moves about and can't be stunned. He also spawns adds and the essence and mines. Blackhammer doesn't exempt you from any of those mechanics. You'll just kill him a bit faster with BH than with normal snipers
