Please tell me last time bungie nerfed down something down to a reasonable level. It will either be hit pretty hard(making it useless) or nudge it down a bit but it still remain strong.
My bet is the last one.

Well trying to fix the weapons isn't the problem, it's the time they take to change. Having a useless weapons for two weeks is not a problem but 6 months... If they want to optimise theirs weapons, they should make more often than on every 6 months.
