How do YOU judge players?

This is just a little change up of the forums due to the whole weapon tuning thing. Now I don't mean for this to break out into arguments ok guys I'm just generally curious as to how the rest of the destiny community judges other players without ever meeting or playing with them. Me personally I look at grimoire score, only because it shows how dedicated someone is to completely maxing out the game. But like I said no arguments, hey you might even learn something and improve your character so it impresses other people without even playing with them. Edit 1: my bad for not explaining myself about the grimoire. I won't disallow anyone into my raid team, Poe team etc if their grimoire score is low however I will change my playstyle to be more serious. For example if a level 34 is in my raid team and they have 1000 grimoire score then I will change my playstyle to be more serious and more descriptive in my actions due to the fact they have not done said raid before. My bad for not explain that sorry. Edit 2: I'm so glad with the outcome of this post. Almost no arguments and people talking nice to each other and giving their constructive feedback based on their "judgment system" it's been lovely reading all of your replies and even engaging in conversations with some of you. Nice to see we still have a lovely polite community of guardians after the whole ordeal lately, this will be my last edit for this post guys but I hope to see you all in the battlefield some day guardians :) happy killing

  • Before I game I look at my opponent and judge everything. Weapon choices, exotic choices, subclass perk choices, stat distribution, grimoire etc. People may say you can't judge skill based on things like grimoire or weapon choices but if you combine everything then I almost always know how good someone is.

    • I judge by choice of gear and grimoire If someone has a blue gun and is lvl 34 i dont usually let em stay and if they hav low grimoire like below 2000 then i think bout how they perform and if they dont know wat to do as long as they r willin to learn i let em stay

Gear mostly, do you have some raid gear spattered amongst your armor? Are you using burn-appropriate guns, a.k.a. not bringing your 248 Vision, a 331 arc Her Benevolance and an underpowered Hunger to a void burn party? It would be nice to see an ascended Praedeth's Revenge maybe. Or a 365 Two to the Morgue perhaps... or a leveled Swordbreaker at least. Dress for success... I won't kick anyone but I may be tempted to jump ship after wiping for the 4th time on a void burn Archon Priest because I'm the only one with a single g.d. void weapon equipped and you two refuse to leave the back cliff cheese spot.

    • In trials, I size up players by looking at gear, emblems, and grimoire. There isn't much else you can do besides that. I've played against max grims and they sucked, I've also played against low grims and they were a fair match. There isn't really any sure way of knowing unfortunately. Although, if they are using unleveled gear and anything beside thorn, it's typically an easy fight. (Looking forward to the meta change, regardless if it's for the better or worse)

      • Usually how well they combine their gear perks with the guns they're using along with maxed intellect and discipline unless the exotic they're using defaults for strength.

      • Grimoire first, but if their above 2500 I'll let them by, then I check weapon rolls, good players will have good weapons, and then I'll play

      • Grimoire is generally useless. I would go by k/d from patrol and crucible. Generally decent people will be higher than a 1.0 k/d in crucible. Decent on patrol would merit 150+ and really good are usually 250+ across all characters. I use the patrol because it generally estimates how well you play without trying very hard and without forced deaths you generally experience in the raids or PoE. Usually people under 100 k/d in patrol are pretty awful all around.

I judge people by 3 things. Gear, grimoire and playstyle/know how. Gear and grimoire can give you a very rough estimate of how a player will be. If they have over 2500 grimoire and full raid gear for either raid, I can assume they'll be competent. If they have more than one chase gear, say, FB, a high impact sniper and gjally, I can assume they've grinded their fair share of Destiny. And then there's playstyle and know how. I mostly base this on how heavy or light the load is for me in killing enemies. If they head towards where the enemies are going to spawn and aim, I know they are knowledgeable enough to handle their own. If we get to a certain section of the game and ask "So how do you guys wanna do this part?", that's even better. This suggests they've done this particular section different ways which makes them more versitile. Overall, "know how" is the most important thing I look for, if that wasn't already obvious. When a player looks lost or needs to be told what to do, that's a flag that needs to be addressed. I then step up and tell them what to do. If they can listen and learn, then I don't mind, but if they can't manage to do simple tasks, there's nothing I can do for them and I usually leave. If I have nothing better to do, I don't mind sticking around, but if I want a quick run, I don't see myself working on something for hours when I know it can be done in minutes with the right team. There's always the exception though. If I'm playing with people who are fun to work with and they need help and have underwhelming weapons, I might just stick around and have fun with them. Being the guy that is the only one left at a low life Templar when everyone dies and picking up the relic and one manning the last few shots, or getting constant double revives during the nightfall and feeling like a bad ass can be fun WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE. With the wrong people, it can be quite the opposite.

          • By their intelligence. For example, if they say something like "hey you just got the Fatebringer, why aren't you leveling it up?" When we're still in the raid, I will judge them. Another example is if one guy is bashing on all the others, saying they suck and telling me, because I'm host, to kick them. And the guy complaining is the one making the mistakes. There are two other examples. If they're just being absolute -blam!-s to everyone, I don't care how good they are, I will probably kick them. Last there are the people who say. "The U.S. has 49 states idiot, not 50, because the scientists found out that Pluto don't exist.
k I stol this one off of Twitter, but if he says something similar, then. I won't kick him, I'll just judge him.
• I judge about how they handle clutch moments. Players that are good can pull almost everything off. Example, myself pulled a 4 man together to finish atheon on hard after the 2 left us like chumps. They didn't want to do it but we pulled it off because I kept everyone in check by leading every sec. Timing was important and every player needed to be in the right spot when needed. It wasn't that hard but it was fun
