"Nerfing weapons in favor of weaker players" Are you serious? Do you actually believe thats why this nerf is coming?? So let me get this right. You believe that everyone that sucks "weak" got on the forums and complained and bungie was like "Ok gardians, we hear your crys of pain and we deliver to you a solution to make you not suck, NERF all the weapons that you complain about!"....does that sound about right? No, not once has bungie read a post and thought "hmmm maybe we should do something about this...hmmm, let's change this game because the community agrees it needs it" So what really happened is this. One guy gets 61kills in a control match using thorn. People see video and say to themselves "i think i can do that" and then a surge of thorns appear. Some people complain and some people say "cant beat em, join em". Well some guy figured out that ADS on the last word was literally broken and giving the hip fire bonus. Takes it to crucible and repeats the same thorn problem. Well felwinters sniper comes into play and all of a sudden people look at shotgun stats differently and want a high impact long range shotgun with crazy range perks and guess what. The community follows by using it or finding a shotty with similar stats. What happened is everyone wants the guns that kill instantly. And it was not people on the forums that got the nerf to happen. It was the OVERUSE of these weapons. So the ones to blame are not the ones complaining. The ones to blame are the guys that use these weapons EVERYDAY, IN EVERY CRUCIBLE MATCH. I cant stress enough how bungie does not look at the forums as much as you think. They focus on "raw data that they collect from US" For instance, after this 2.0 balance, trials rolls around and everyone started using the strangers rifle. And it was the new fastest kill time weapon. If everyone in trials was using it and then it became the basic go to gun for crucible then i guarantee the next weapon balance would nerf it based on OVERUSAGE. Its pretty simple to understand.
