Good morning, Researchers, and welcome to the second Xur breakdown! This week, Xur came through and is selling a weapon. Might not be the sniper I'm looking for, but it is a wonderful weapon!
To begin, for the Titans, Cthulhu-face is selling one of the more powerful chest pieces: the Armamentarium. This was one of my first exotic armor pieces and it is still one of my most used. It may not have a super special unique perk, granting you an extra grenade, but for a Titan, that is incredibly useful. Whether you're packing two Lightning grenades to close off two doorways in a Crucible match or missed with your suppressor grenade on that Blade Dancer, having an extra grenade is never a bad thing. Add it's pure discipline stat and you are one deadly grenadier. On top of that, it also has extra special AND heavy ammo. This chest piece just has more of everything. This week, the stat roll was only 140 out of a possible 181, I believe. Not the best roll, but if you don't have it, snap this puppy up! I give these a 8 out of 10.
Hunters have Young Ahamkara's Spine. Much like the Warlock's Sunbreakers that I talked about last week, this arm set is not really up there in the top tier of Hunter armors. The 108 discipline is not great, however, discipline does play into it's perk. Tripmines stay active much longer when using this piece. Tripmines are wonderful and many may argue that they are the best Hunter grenade, so this may be very handy to you. Personally, with what I've seen in the Crucible of Tripmines getting popped whenever they're spotted and the small amount of time they're usually in play in PVE, I don't see this as crucial to a Hunter load out. You can do much better. However, these do look cool and the lore and secrets about the Ahamkaras is some of my favorite nonsense in the Destiny Universe. I give these a 3 out of 10.
Xur is all about the grenades this week, giving the Warlocks the Starfire Protocol chest. Besides being something pretty to look at, these robes are the more specific version of the Armamentarium for the Warlocks. Having an extra fusion grenade is wonderful. Unfortunately, it is limiting as it only grants an extra fusion grenade. This does not stack with the Gift of the Sun perk on the Sunsinger class tree, but that will open that branch up. This did not get a great roll, a 133 in Intellect, which does not tie into it's perk, so if you have something better, stick with that. It was one of my first Warlock exotics and it did me proud, so I can't tell you not to get it. I'll give this a 6 out of 10. It would be a 5, but I like the look, so it gets a 6.
Thankfully, Xur did not wake up with a hang over this week and remembered to bring a weapon. This week, he definitely came through! Patience and Time is an exotic sniper rifle that seems to take a back seat to Ice Breaker and No Land Beyond, but is incredibly powerful and built for PVP. This is a high stability, middle ground rate of fire sniper rifle. It starts with 4 rounds, but if you use it's field scout perk, you'll be packing 6. Its first main perk is third eye, one of the best perks in the game, allowing you to still see your radar while aiming down sights. Its unique perk compliments this, allowing you to see those around you, but not letting them see you. This perk grants invisibility for a short time while ADS. Now, yes, invisibility is not super hard to spot, but it can give you that extra bit of surprise when coming around a corner in a sniper battle. It's other swappable perks, aside from the aforementioned field scout, are snapshot and fitted stock. Either you'll be zooming in real fast or your stability comes real close to being maxed. If you are a budding sniper and want something unique and you're able to roll with a solid legendary primary, this is your weapon. I highly recommend picking this up while it's on Spaghetti-face's shelf. Xur definitely made up for being a jerk last week.
To round out Xur's inventory, he's selling his usual exotic shards, synths, and what not, but he also has a chest engram this week. I recommend playing that lottery while it's here, there are a lot of good exotic chest pieces out there.
That wraps Xur's inventory up for this week. Real quick before I go, I will be doing weapon reviews in the coming weeks. If you have anything you'd like to be reviewed, let me know in a message and I'll tell you how it stacks up!
This has been Jauger9 with your weekly Xur update. Until next time, stay SMRT, Researchers! See you in space!
