Destiny 101 Armor Basics

Starting out armor doesn't really really do much more then defend you. But, as you get closer to level 20, armor will be an important feature to customizing your gameplay. Class Specific: Each class has it's own type of armor that only players of that class can equip. Titans get heavy plate metal, Hunters get tight leather, and Warlocks get cloth robes. Titans can only wear Titan armor, Hunters can only wear Hunter armor, Warlocks can only wear Warlock armor. This is just another reason why I so highly recommend making 1 character of each class type. Suppose you get a random drop that gives you an awesome new armor, but it's for a different class, instead of wasting such a great drop you can give that armor to your other character. The differences don't end at cosmetics. While weapons universally utilize weapon parts as their upgrade material armors require a material that is specific to their class. Titan armor need Plasteel Plating, Hunter armor needs Sapphire Wire, and Warlock armor needs Hardonic Essence. Stats: Guardians have 3 armor stats; Intellect, Discipline, and Strength. Armors will grant bonuses to 1 or 2 of these stats. The stat bonuses are as follows. - Intellect increases the recharge speed of your Super. - Discipline increases the recharge speed of your Grenade. - Strength increases the recharge speed of your Melee ability. Armor stat bonuses cap out at 270 (100% bonus) but the stats can go higher. Pushing a stats beyond 270 does not grant any additional benefits so it's best to try and diversify, at least a little bit. Have 400 Discipline and nothing else is less useful than having 270 Discipline with some Intellect and Strength on the side. Light: I know I already talked about this in General Information but I want to reiterate it because of how important Light is to leveling up in Destiny. Once you reach level 20 you gain a 4th stat called Light. You can increase your light by equipping armor with light in it. This is the only way to level up beyond level 20.
