I'm leaving because I refuse to spend $40 on TTK when it by all rights should be $25/30. The weapon patch is also very concerning because it seems like they want to make PVE even grindier, which is a huge turnoff. Balance weapons for PVP, sure, but do it intelligently and divorce them entirely from PVE.

If that was because the content was engaging, varied, and interesting, then sure. But because all they're doing is forcing me to shoot the bullet sponge boss 200 times instead of 150 times, I'll continue to feel ripped off. Hell, I'll feel even more ripped off now because of this arbitrary content lengthening horseshit.

  • Eh, I can understand it. Losing maybe 20% of their consumers doesn't hurt if the rest buy a DLC for 25% to 50% more than its actual worth. I'm buying it myself, but it's a personal liking I've taken to it.

That's what scares me the most about the price point - I feel like Activision's management team ran some market research and financial projection numbers and found that, although the game's population would certainly suffer, they could make as much or more cash by milking the existing players with overpriced DLC. And don't get me wrong; despite its flaws, I actually do enjoy Destiny a fair bit. I'd also be happy to purchase TTK if they priced it realistically. But they haven't, so I won't.

He certainly gave voice to what was undoubtedly discussed in various executive meetings at Activision HQ. I just wish the average guardian would realize how they're held in such low esteem by these people.

  • I say, why not? Activision is a large, well-known company for a reason. They know how to make money properly, by doing simple marketing ploys like this. I'm going to be honest, I've fallen for it.

You and Activision are the reason why games as a medium have plateaued in the AAA space. The products are actively damaged by their desire to wring every last cent out of it. You're playing a product, not a game. Thank god it's an unsustainable situation and the AAA market will likely cave in on itself before too long.

  • Can't argue with that. Though since I can't become a Nightstalker while playing Namco Museum, I'm still buying TTK. Only thing that'll change that is if my Xbox is broken or lost due to flood or tornado.
