Taken King Value POV (seeking a mature attitude from this forum)

I think the complaint is not so much about their ability to afford the Taken King, and more on their own value to DLC in general. Forgetting that Bungie has charged people plenty of bucks for maps. Maps. Some believe that DLC is content that was ripped from the game they already bought. Or content in the game, but just locked behind a pay gate. There are others that think a few bucks here and there is okay, but only under a certain amount. Because no matter what, additional content pales in comparison to the original content. They are of the hipster variety. I don't think the "critics" or haters have fully grasped what is coming in The Taken King. For them they believe they are still owed something for buying Destiny in the first place. Just look at Lost Sols and all his posts. He believes Bungie owes him explanations for past DLC content becoming Nightly/Weeklies before he purchased the DLC. That he deserves matchmaking because it's demanded here all the time. Would anyone give into the demands of a psyche ward. It's more sane there than here. Also owed is an explanation from Deej about everything. None of these people want a conversation with Bungie. They want to interrogate them like they're Jack Bauer. It's very childish. You could ask them to keep it simple and sometimes they will acknowledge. But they won't do it. Give these raving lunatics the simple challenge of making an honest and clear request in the form of feedback, and you get Bungie needs to do this and that and this as well. I think it is already more than obvious to every avid fan of Destiny that something drastically changed to Destiny 7 months before launch. Videos of Destiny in 2013 have a much different approach to what we have today. The composer was booted and the lead writer left due most likely to creative differences with someone at Bungie/Activision. As open and transparent as things are these days, some people expected an explanation. No business in their right mind would do that. Especially with a subject that involves a ten year plan. And no professional would divulge such secrets either. Yet still people believe Bungie ought to spill. In my personal opinion, I hate that they made no effort to show or tell things would be different from the 2013 hype to the 2014. But I just as much understand why they wouldn't do that for the sake of not derailing Destiny even by the slightest. I can only hold out hope that what we were shown in the early days may still reprise itself in the game series soon. That is what I am hoping for with the Taken King. Downside is, whatever terrible thing about it will be overcome by the new super abilities, thus paving the way to continued play into the sequel. Where the trend may continue. As you may learn from most fans who never even knew these boards existed, most people don't care. If they don't like what they bought, they simply don't keep playing it. Without a word or even a whimper, they move on. There are those who have owned the game for months, even since launch, that have yet to go beyond the main story missions. Yet they had fun, and will probably get the sequel. Never mind the DLC. If none of this got to you I'll simply say this: entitlement is among your worst traits. What you think you're owed, you are not. What ideas you think Bungie should use, they don't have to. Feedback is awesome in that way. They aren't marching orders. I'm really glad that nothing said here is taken as gospel from the community at large. I've seen some cool ideas mentioned here. Few of which are acknowledged in general. I'd say for most forum boards 66% is discontent, 33% very content, with 1% being pure gold. Bungie's feedback forum is like 85% discontent, 14% content, and 1% pure gold. That said, simple feedback: 1) Would like to see more vault space for some of that new gear in Taken King. I'd be stoked for just 8 more slots for gear as example. 2) Clan integration IN THE GAME. 3) Skolas checkpoint? I get this could be a philosophical difference, but this has ruined weekends for my friends. 4) IB helmets? They are rarely in Lord Saladin's inventory. Makes me want to steal the gear right off his own head. 5) Shout out from Deej or Bungie in the comments. Cozmo would be cool too. Just because. 6) Accept my challenge to a Nerf war. Anywhere in Bellevue if parking is free or validated. Just say when, and probably wear. Must be Nerf. Not Busbee or other Nerf knockoffs.

 • In response to the title of your post, TTK isn't value for money if you live outside of the U.S. UK price $63 more than 50% extra and also more than the vanilla game. Australia $70 which is 75% more than the US price. Vault space is down to poor design, they went for looks over practicality, could be easily fixed by say having pages, one for primary weapons, one fo special, etc or even stacking like they did with the ammo synthesis. My biggest criticism atm is the price, I refuse point blank to pay more for a dlc than I did for the original game, no matter what game or how good it is.
