Well I've heard the argument the gun was stored in transmat form by Jaren Wards widowed ghost, which then delivered the blueprints to Shin Malphur. Also since it's a grown Shin Malphur telling us that story it makes sense he calls the gun the name he gives it rather than the forbidden name of his mentor's that mutates into thorn.
