Alright, so i was going through forums and saw a post on glimmer cap glaring over at Iron Banner asking why we cant have enough glimmer to buy everything in one go - or something like that - and how we have to go glimmer farming to get everything we want. Totally agree on that point, if they do nothing else for glimmer then raising the cap would be nice.
Reading this, i had a couple of ideas.
So, what i propose to Bu.gie is that, if they feel they have to do something about any glimmer problems, that they implement a "glimmer condensing" feature with the Speaker. The Speaker already handles the conversion of Motes of Light and Ascendant and Radiant Materials into glimmer, so its not impossible that he could also have the means of condensing that glimmer. Granted, it would likely take Motes of Light or some other newfangled contraption of an item to make this possible as to not make it so absolutely free, "gotta use glimmer to make glimmer". Something like that.
This process would allow you to make 3 tiers of consumables -
Condensed Glimmer(1000 glimmer) requires 100 glimmer and 1 Mote of Light/ 1 of new obligatory item,
Compacted Glimmer(5000 glimmer) requires 500 glimmer and 3 Motes of Light/ 3 of new obligatory item,
Compressed Glimmer (10000 glimmer) requires 1000 glimmer and 5 Motes of Light/ 5 of new obligatory item.
I don't have a 25000 or 20000 conversion ones because you would have to have 0 glimmer for 25000, and the Compressed Glimmer (10000) would just have to stack for 20000 ones to exist, as well as I am trying not to have too many new conversion item since we need all the inventory space we can get with all the current consumables and materials, not to mention those to come into existence.
Now - onto the likely awaited for "Voucher Vendor" or VV from here on out.
The VV would be a new NPC, stationed just about anywhere centrally. I suggest the third side of the building with the special orders and mailbot., as i believe there was a closed shutter there, which would make them nicely centralized. Another good spot would be down in the Radio room, since there is a desk sitting there that feels like someone should be vending there. These are just my suggestion as to where this lucky little guy would go.
Anyway, the function of this NPC would be to sell vouchers that allow for the purchase of gear and weapons from all the various vendors, whether they be Iron banner, Vanguard, or Crucible. The VV would have Vouchers that require a base glimmer for the purchase and then oh so many marks ascertain as to each piece of gear or weapon.
Crucible Weapon Voucher - 500 Glimmer, 150 Crucible Marks
Crucible Helmet Voucher - 500 Glimmer, 120 Crucible Marks
Crucible Gear Voucher - 500 Glimmer, 75 Crucible Marks
Vanguard Weapon Voucher - 500 Glimmer, 150 Vanguard Marks
Vanguard Helmet Voucher - 500 Glimmer, 120 Vanguard Marks
Vanguard Gear Voucher - 500 Glimmer, 75 Vanguard Marks
Iron Banner Weapon Voucher - 7000 Glimmer
Iron Banner Gear Voucher - 5000 Glimmer
The Crucible Vouchers would be valid with all vendors who sell Gear and Weapons that require one to have Crucible marks.
The Vanguard Vouchers would be valid with all vendors who sell Gear and Weapons that require one to have Vanguard Marks.
The Iron Banner Voucher would allow for players to buy Weapons and Gear from Lord Saladin as long as they had the appropriate ranking with him for that Iron Banner 's duration.
The main reason for the existence of these vouchers and the glimmer conversions into consumables is because Ive seen and known that many people have maxed out vanguard and crucible marks, especially their glimmer, but feel they have nothing worth spending it on. This way, they could keep earning glimmer and marks without feeling like they are losing it, so that it still holds its worth, just in a different form. I personally am sitting at glimmer cap and Vanguard cap because i have nothing worth using it on. Not to mention that these vouchers could also be transferable between characters, allowing for someone to buy gear for their other classes that they haven't really sunken enough time into, but don't want to because they don't have gear for them. Obviously, the characters that use the vouchers as well as create them need to be appropriate ranking or its all a little weird, what with not having the proper qualifications and how the outfitters of the tower want you to earn the right to better equipment, not just be entitled.
Well, what does the community think? Is this a good idea? Got any improvements? Judging it, i think it would be good if we had some ways to save what we've earned, even if its in a bit of a convoluted form,
Granted, they could've just had our bank be an actual bank to avoid all this, letting us store marks and glimmer, but we like making things convoluted and fun rings to pass through here at Destiny :P - Not a jab, just kinda funny.
Have at me internet!
Edit: Something i forgot to put in initially was the idea of a judgments chance like feature for Iron banner so people could try and get different weapons and gear than whats available. maybe 15000 glimmer.

Edited by Tzoedn: 7/28/2015 10:43:30 PMJust never cash in the glimmer consumables with the cryptarch unless you absolutely need to, like Monday night and 20k short for iron banner gear. I have been saving since one or two iron banners ago and have approx 30k in my inventory on each character Edit: okay, totalled my hunters and it is just over 18k, but still there is no significant cap on the amount that you can hold. Warlock and titan total just over 16k each. Essentially I have 50k in glimmer savings
