How can something seem redundant but not me, for a circumstance like this where it is?

Don't people in the U.S.A use different measurements that most people think overly complicated? Do you also measure understanding differently?

Does this go back to your deal about conversations having a set meaning? Does that mean you are agreeing that words DO have different meanings?

But wouldn't the context have to be different for sifting and observing to correctly pertain to the same action?

Why would it need to be a different context? Does the context we used it in not fit both equally as synonyms?
