Got weapons, got armor, but what else can you equip? Let's talk about that stuff.
Class Items: I've cover these briefly in other sections but let's make sure to cover everything. A class item is a piece of armor that is different depending on what class you play (Marks for Titans, Capes for Hunters, Bonds for Warlocks). As of the posting of this guide class items are purely cosmetic with only a few exceptions, which I will describe here:
- Tower Factions: New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, and FWC. The only way to gain reputation with any of these factions is by wearing their class item while receiving any kind of Crucible or Vanguard reputation gain. Let's say I'm turning in some daily bounties, some Crucible and some Vanguard, and I'm wearing a Dead Orbit bond. All of the Crucible and Vanguard rep I would have received instead goes to Dead Orbit. This only works with Crucible and Vanguard rep, other forms of rep are not converted.
- Iron Banner: Wearing an Iron Banner class item while receiving IB rep increases the amount of rep received.
- Eris Morn: There is 1 particular daily bounty that Eris Morn can give that requires you to be wearing one her class items to complete it.
Sparrow: Honestly where would a Guardian be without their trusty sparrow? A sparrows capabilities are directly linked to it's level of rarity. Higher level sparrows will have a higher base speed and better durability, Legendary sparrows can even have special abilities. Let's talk about controls:
- Power Brake: Pulling the fire weapon button while on your sparrow activates the brakes which can be used while moving to slide and make tighter turns. Most sparrows have this.
- Lateral Movement: Higher level sparrows will have the ability to make quick left or right directional bursts. Use the throw grenade and melee buttons.
- Overdrive: Some Legendary sparrows, most notably those acquired in raids, will have the overdrive perk instead of power brakes. While boosting with an overdrive sparrow you can hold the fire weapon button to further increase the boost. Be careful, holding an overdrive boost for too long with cause your sparrow to self-destruct.
- It Beeps: If you move backwards on your sparrow long enough it beeps. Beep beep, backing up!
Ghost Shell: As of the posting of this guide ghost shells do not serve any functional purpose...as of the posting of this guide there are only 2 shells.
Shader: As of the posting of this guide shaders do not serve any functional purpose aside from the Iron Banner shaders which increase IB rep gains. They can make you look cool though.
Emblem: As of the posting of this guide emblems do not serve any functional purpose aside from the Iron Banner emblems which increase IB rep gains. Show off, make a statement, this is your personal banner to wave about.
Ship: As of the posting of this guide ships do not serve any functional purpose. Pick your loading screen.
