    [spoiler]Don't you remember the DMZ Agreement? Nobody gets to bring in outside characters; they have to create new ones that fit the rest of the RP's theme. It's to avoid nukings, flame wars, cross-thread invasions, etc. So... sort of. [/spoiler]

  • True, but the characters you've invented always manage to interesting, even if the universes they inhabit weren't always created by you. That's a rare storytelling gift.

  • Lel all my characters are based heavily on others, except my original character who ran Outlaw Company. My new character for this is based looks-wise on Azrael from AK, Blackjack is based on Deadshot and Deathstroke, Venom is based on Tony Stark, Bond villains, Justin Hammer, Jonathan Irons, etc. Not exactly very original archetypes.

    It's actually nothing new. That's what most authors do and have been doing for decades. They use similar archetypes to make their own characters. While all my characters are all original, all of them also show similarity to others, but have their own quirks and a lot of obvious difference in origin story and styles. A lot of authors also use real-life figures for inspiration. I saw a lot of General George Patton, General Robert E. Lee and General Custer in Sauron. I also saw a little bit of Mel Gibson's character from Braveheart, but that's just me lol. The fact that you didn't see that means that I've fostered their own traits very well, which makes me happy.

  • I actually tried to put some of the generals from WW2 into Sauron, people like Gavin, Ridgway, Rommel, Bradley, and John Frost. Essentially those who commisterated and empathized with their men. I'm actually a little ambivalent about Patton, so I'm surprised he ended up in the mix.

  • I get that. I was just congratulating you on your ability to make your own distinct characters out of things you found most pertinent in other characters, and mix them together well enough to make their original parts gel perfectly with the taken parts, something I've always found difficult.

    It takes time and practice. You've done fairly well. Anyway, new character not affiliated with Venom is also based, armor-wise, on AK Azrael, because that armor is -blam!-ing cool. I've got a plan for this thread finally.

  • Good to hear. My current character's based heavily on the "Agents" of the Syndicate series, and steals his code-name (Crane) from a mini boss from the (largely panned) 2012 reboot.
