Buying the Taken King? Read this....
The Taken King should be changed to The King of Taken your Money.
The DLC is overpriced at $40.
It is not worth $40...Activi$ion....as we ALL well know...is disgusting when it comes to scamming people.
Destiny is on its last leg with milking beyond belief since both Bungie and Activi$ion know that all the good games are coming out soon (SW Battlefront, Uncharted 4, Deus Ex, Doom, Fallout 4, Dishonored 2, Need for Speed 2015, etc.)

4 RepliesI love how everyone just assumes it is overpriced when they haven't even played it. $40, even £40 (which is what I will be paying) is really not much. That's like half of one day's work even on a low wage. People say it's about the principle, but it's not really. It's simply a question of if I will get £40 worth of entertainment out of it. Obviously, since I also haven't played it, I can't say for sure, but given how much enjoyment I've got from Destiny and its DLCs so far, and what we have seen of TTK, I think it is almost certain that it will be worth it.

23 RepliesAt launch, the game cost 60 dollars (unless you bought Ghost edition like me) Most people have put around 700-800 hours into this game. Some less, some much much more. Most people drop 60 bucks for one trip to the bar. At 800 hours, 60 bucks gets you 33.3 days of entertainment. Seems like a good value. TTK costs 40. And I'm sure I'll probably end up putting another 300-400 hours into Destiny playing with friends. Hell, even if TTK lasted for about 200 hours worth of play before I was done, I still consider that a value. Most DLC expansions cost 10-15 dollars. And they are usually done and played out the day they release. And before anyone tries to explain to me of how they played all this time, but hated the game. I don't believe it. If you have over 500 hours in this game. You had fun. Maybe it was because you were with your friends. Maybe another reason. But I'm sorry the "I'm just trying to hit max lvl" or "I'm done once I get gally", etc, are bad excuses. Why do you want max lvl, gally, or any of that? If you hate the game you will move on. No one here is going to convince me they put in days worth of playtime on this game and hated it. You know what I do when I hate a game? I stop playing. If you hate Destiny, and still play it, you're an idiot, no other explanation. For those that say, the game has some serious flaws. I agree, it does. But it is still an enjoyable game, and is still fun.

First of all get down from your soapbox for a second and remove your head from your ass. You have no ideas what the Taken King will be worth for 2 main reasons #1 being that if it comes out with as much content as Bungie has promised then to many people (like myself included) it is worth $40. #2n reason being that Activision has maintained DLC pricing for call of duty for years. SP for lack ops is still $50 here in the U.S. All I'm saying is you are entitled to your opinion but your zealous disenfranchisement of a video game on said game's forum is unnecessary and undesired. I wish there were some chinks in this argument that i could pry apart but there aren't! the Op has battered down the walls of my ignorance with the battering ram of his pure and unfiltered logic. he has absolutely forced me to if not accept his extremely valid and well reasoned arguments about The 'Taken King' at least consider them very strongly. I've heard a lot of people saying that 'The Taken King' is not worth the money but they hadn't convinced me in the slightest but the op contains an expertly designed thesis it's short, sweet, and cuts straight to the point avoiding unnecessary pleasantries of language. just when the op has you right where it wants you questioning everything you take to be true about 'The Taken King' it hits you with unrelenting Ad Hominem. that smallest garnish of Ad Hominem driving home what the reader knows to be true, this final piece perfectly punctuating it's authors intent [i]"'The Taken King' Truly is not worth the money"[/i]. A truly magnificent display of argument, a master class, and even that i fear is damning it with faint praise. Indeed Voltaire nor Vonnegut could've so artfully written such a scathing criticism of the state of the games industry.

It's twice maybe triple the size of a regular dlc 40 dollars is a good price very affordable. If you have a job or any kind of income and you enjoy the game you wouldn't be complaining.
