Well, behavioural psychologists study behaviours, they also study how to apply concepts to the real world and it comes in handy in terms of business strategies and product design, in other words, he's probably not far off from the mark There's a reason behind everything when it comes to how games are designed, especially how items are dropped and the frequencies of which that occurs in this case
