But Activision is merely a Publisher, it's the responsibility of Bungie to support and maintain their game as a developer.

i think its a little more deep than publisher, I think, look a titanfall from a brand new company, i think the servers came from microsoft or am i wrong?
-
Actually EA was Titanfall's Publisher and Respawn developed it. Here's an excerpt from an article regarding Microsoft's cloud servers:
With the Xbox One, though, the company (Microsoft) opened up its global server farms to game developers
So as you can see, the developers use dedicated servers to support their games where the need arises.

yeah, i knew i had it wrong thats why i asked but in destinys case then servers would come from microsoft and sony i guess. But i think publishers have the money to make the deals and stuff. Idk i just feel like, it works like this: developer just worries about making the game and publisher marketing, pricing and giving the developers money to finish the project. And somewhere in there bungie needed to ask activision for servers.
