[b]Our helmets fold in.[/b]
[b]Dad's mask does the same, and we stare back at each other.[/b]
"Wow, you guys look like Oliv- you look just like your mother", he says smiling.
"Hi dad," Evie says as she runs up to hug him.
[b]He was startled at first, but he reciprocated. Jaeton hugged him as well. We haven't hugged dad since....well it's been years.[/b]

"So you came back to restore the timeline...?" he asked.
"Malachi was never supposed to make this decision. Something drove him to it. Maybe even someone..." Jae says.
"Well how do I know this isn't just a ripple effect, where anything you'll do will just set us towards this path. Or that you won't create an alternate timeline through the butterfly effect?" Kai asks.
"Because if those were true, we wouldn't be alive...and mom-"
"Evie, enough..."
"Alright no spoilers." Dad says somewhat scared.
"So Evelyn and Jaeton.....huh, she loved those two names," Dad says looking at the Cedyetica cityscape outside of my window. We walk next to him and look at all of Cedyetica.

Soldiers in outdated tactical gear and carrying MP5's, long thought obsolete, burst through the front doors of the Penthouse. Their fatigues are black-patterned and unmarked, save a triangular green patch on their left shoulders, and a rank tab on their right. They tackle the two time travelers and pin them to the ground. The others train their weapons on you. [b]FREEZE! Hands in the air![/b] Another soldier steps forward and waves a green Geiger-counter-like device over Kai. [i]He's clean, sir.[/i] A man in a gas mask and a garrison cap steps forward. His shoulder tab marks him as a captain. [b]Kai Okura and Evelyn Okura. Have you received contact with a force, entity, or human analogue known as or calling itself Malachi?[/b]

[b]Our Predictive Division dug this up, along with several encounters about twenty years ago.[/b] The files within have pictures, combat encounter records, and a dossier. The pictures are horrific. People turned inside out, mutated, and otherwise. Banners and flags with an odd symbol, a snake eating its tail, hang from common Cedycita landmarks. Soldiers wearing armbands with the same markings are seen executing civilians, specifically Cyborgs and Rosskayans. Finally, there is a picture of Malachi. He wears a black uniform covered in medals, reviewing thousands of passing troops. At his side, dressed similarly, are Kai, Evelyn, and Jaeton. [b]Just to be clear, this hasn't happened yet. But because of a massive Rupture Event in Tchalka, Rosskaya five years ago...[/b] [b]There is a pretty gorram good chance it will happen within a year.[/b]

"That never happened in our busted up reality either," Jae says. "We woke up 4 years ago and we found the city like this," Evie says popping on her holographic wrist computer. [b]You see a jungle like ruined Cedyetica, and what appears to be rubble mixed with snow and ice.... Rosskaya[/b] "So your reality...our reality isn't supposed to be like this"? Kai says. "No, someone tampered with the continuum, Malachi was never supposed to succeed. He was- well he never carried the plan out". [b]Both Summits growls at the soldiers and the captain.[/b] "So what Captain, you're just gonna face him head on? You'll all die. And when you think you've beaten him......to a terrorist: failure is just rehearsal for success".

The Captain motions for another dossier. [b]We don't just intend on beating him. We intend on killing him and destroying his masters' hold on this world, in which he acts as their conduit. I can't explain exactly what that is, or else something... ugly would happen.[/b]

"The Malachi of our timeline would be glad if you could somehow do that to him...but he's stuck walking on that hell of a planet." Jae says. "We came back to fix history, and that's exactly what we're going to do", she says eyeing Jae. Your so called little plan isn't written anywhere in history, in fact...how do we know your little "plan" isn't the anomaly that interferes and causes this in the first place?" Jae says barking. "The space-time continuum secures Jae and my existence...so we can't be the interference that caused it in the first place." Evie adds.

Our Precog division marked each "Malachi cycle" with three constants.[/b] [b]The first is your family's Tempest genes, along with those two getting born.[/b] [b]The second is Malachi's revolt.[/b] [b]The third is a large-scale war between Malachi's new government and other belligerents, with various consequences.[/b] [b]This reality, our reality, has a direct link to a separate universe, which is beholden to one standard threat: a series of world wars, all contained on a planet called Earth, an analogue to our universe's Terra system. The second of these wars was begun in a nation extremely similar to Cedycita, by a demagogue deeply similar to Malachi. While Cyborgs, Psions, and others did not exist during this war, a massive genocide against minorities occurred, much like the purgings of Psions in Rosskaya. Our Precogs think that Malachi has some form of access or control of the Uoroborus cult, a group who has access to a dimensional viewer. Malachi is allied with them, and is planning to take political control of the country, following the guidelines of this Parallel dimension. After that, he'll build an army, invade Rosskaya, and initiate a genocide that will wipe out both Cyborgs and ethnic Rosskayans. We plugged in that theory to our own permutations algorithm, and those photos are what we got out.[/b] [b]So do you believe us now?[/b]

Leave them out of the cycle.[/spoiler] [spoiler]I already have the catalyst for who fûcks up the timeline, and Malachi's not working for anyone, he's leading by himself.[/spoiler]
