The precedent was actually set before with other games. $10 has become the default price for multiplayer map pack with 3 or so maps. Now, TDB and HoW had 3 new multiplayer maps each plus a load of other stuff, so it would hardly make sense to price them at $10.
Blame CoD. I think that's where this started. Same publisher as well, so it makes sense.

Naw not exactly. Because you actually have good people who are not all about the dollar. You DLC like farcry 3 which was a whole game I think for only 15 bucks. Also you games like gta that just gives out DLC for free. The only paid dlc is for money I believe. So it's all about how much you care for the people who play your game.

Fairdoes. It would be hard to pinpoint the origin but it matters not how we got to where we are just that we are here. At any rate I never paid for the map DLCs. Seemed like a ripoff.
