Video games have not increased in relation to inflation or cost of living in the last 20 years.
It really is amazing they are as cheap as they. They really should cost $100-$120 for a base game.
Manufacturing costs, marketing costs, labour, have all skyrocketed in costs in all sectors including software development. Yet, video games remain be same cost. Houses vehicles, pop, chocolate bars, clothing, food have all increased two or three times in cost over the same time period where video games have remained almost the same.
I can't believe video game developers and publishers actually make any money. It's great they we so cheap but the reason publishers charge 10$ for three multiplayer maps or $40 for an expansion is because they need to recovery the costs of development.
If companies like Bungie and Activision stop making money we won't have any video games at all the complain about!

Ofc they still make money. What changed since the 80's isn't just technology but mankind itself, we are more than 7 bilion. The number of consumers has increased dramaticaly. This means that they can make more money than before, because there are more pigeons eating crumbs (pigeons being us and crumbs the low price we pay for games these days)
