I'll respect your opinion, however;
Both your points remain to be seen. Will it rope in/re-open new players? Who knows. But I don't think it's fair to say it won't because you are over Destiny.
I have friends that haven't played since Vanilla, that are getting back into the game because TTK peeked their interest. But I agree it's not for everyone, I can respect it isn't for you.
I don't see though how it hasn't faced an serious conpetition.
Destiny has been out since last September, it has faced numerous titles in that time, to include the holiday list of games. Again strictly opinion on what you consider to be competition, but I think we have all seen the endless list of X game will kill Destiny threads, and it's still here.
Yes new games are coming out, but Destiny is a living evolving game (albeit slowly at times). It's a game that people can come back to. They can log on with friends, for NF, raids, etc.
I know this is a crazy concept for a lot of people... but I am the only one who plays other games, then hops on to Destiny with my friends? Why do we all have to have one game? Everyone is always talking about the game that will kill Destiny. Destiny will always be there. People may not be logged in all week, they may play other games, but I know a very large portion of this games community plays more than one game.
