Your hunter would have to way 5 minutes for his golden gun to charge, because he would not have it instantly. Master chief however can go into battle with a Spartan laser, and a lot of other weapons.
Also Spartan laser can not be dodge once they fire because they fire instantly and have infinite range.

More than 2 weapons actually. In one mission in Halo 4 he flies a pelican around, and it carries loads of weapons.

But he doesn't carry them. In one of the books, it details him actually going back to a cache of weapons more than once, and it taking awhile.
