Do the math. How much does going to a movie cost and how much fun in time will you gain in return for your money? 3 movies with no popcorn and other crap = TTK price
3 movies = roughly 4.5-6 hours entertainment and you're done, no free replays or do overs.
TTK should yield that per day and easily that amount of entertainment per week for months to come plus you get to talk during TTK. Movies = no talking
Plus TTK you can play in your underwear or less, do that at the movies and .... well, not good.

And the worlds leading economists are doing a fine job. Movies are grossing 1/4 to 1/2 billion in the top 10 for 2015. People pay for what they want and in times of economic crisis or downturn people head to the movies. Me, I'll blow my cash on beer and TTK. Not saying it's a wise financial decision, but I'll enjoy it. Otherwise my finances are pretty good right now.
