Did he face machines that can teleport, travel through time, and erase things from existence at the same time?

Yeah, they were called Promethean Knights...which were better than the Vex.

The vex are not really impressive. Master Chief has faced far worse.

He fought promethians Knights, which are in their simplest form a beefed up version of the vex with swords, an the ability to create new units and revive their dead, and transform whoever they kill into new promethians knights.
