I didn't like halo three that much so I only played through the campaign once

Just remember in Halo we know the End but what about the beginning so if halo reach had it that means all the old ones had it, but Reach was a different Spartan squad that got to test use abilities. Note: I am here to give you any information.

Yah but then reach kind of got glassed and master chief was then left as the only remaining Spartan for a while

Yes that is true and that's when Halo 4 comes in, if you haven't played it you should.... Great story
