Since we're bringing whamfram into this, you can't deny boltor prime isn't the best gun. Polorizing weapons to simply compete with the boltor prime is essentially a waste when the same can be done to it to keep it at a higher tier. Sure, it helps with power creep, and makes all weapons viable (to an extent) but there really will always be a "god tier" weapon out there.

Not everyone in the current game uses the meta, despite ascension being a possibility. I have no qualms with gear phasing out completely in a MMORPG fantasy type game, since your talent tree (or your "skills") is the main attack use, and your gear in general is just a complement to your character, but it isn't the optimal for a shooter. You should be able to carry at least the weapons over a period of time in the given genre.
