Always keep this in mind that gear never lasts, even exotics may not last. If you play WoW you know that all gear including legendary (exotics in WoW) only last until you hit the next max level, which is 40 in this case. Only things that never goes out of style are cosmetic items such as cloaks, marks, shaders and ships. But in reality there is no incentive to farm these because they are always there (except for faction vendor stuff since they get updated with new stuff). Running stuff now would have only been worth while if they said "x item will no longer drop in x raid when TTK is released". I do find it kinda dirty on Bungies behalf though that they remain silent on this when we're a month away from TTK. Only reason they do this is because their is nothing that keeps us addicted to the game besides loot. That's why they need to add more cosmetics to the game aside from faction stuff to keep us hooked. TL;DR: Gear and legendaries (exotics) always become useless. Bungie should give heads up if they're doing this at least 3 months in advance. Also need to add more vanity/cosmetic stuff aside from loot hunting.

  • Except WoW expansions come out every 2-3 years not every 4 months and have enough content to last that long. Also destiny is barely an mmo. The dark below came out two weeks after an iron banner meaning you could grind to rank 5, spend 17.5k on a gun and have it be "permanently" outclassed by a vendor weapon in 14 days. And here we are yet again. Bungie can't say with one face that we build our legend and carve our own path and say with the other that we have to trash everything and start over every 4 months.

  • Too bad WoW is planning on doing yearly expansions.

Bungie did screw up first year, I'm not on their side at all. Obviously gear lasting for less than 4 months is stupid, that's why I said they need to give a warning at least 3-6 months before next expansion. The fact that they haven't is obvious, because they don't have enough content to keep us hooked. If transmog was available, everything would still be ok, that's why WoW players don't rage about it. But I think at this point year 2 gear will last for a year, but obviously throughout the year weapons with slightly more damage will come out as new raids are released. I don't think they can be that dumb enough to make gear obsolete so quick again.

  • tramsmog wasnt always there. they only added that a couple years back. it was added for a reason though and it works in games like WoW and Diablo, but Im not sure it would work in a setting like Destiny.

  • Yeah I remember it came out during Wrath I think. It can work and they need something like this in order to keep us grinding. WoW has so much to do besides trying to get new weapons all the time. There's mount farming, loot farming for transmog etc. This game needs something like that, and transmog would be a good start.
