If this game lasts 10 years (I doubt it) then this kind of logic translates to: Don't play the game until 10 years worth of DLC has come out!
My time invested in Destiny Year One was great. I've had a ton of fun playing with my friends as well as with some good randoms from the game and community. I look forward to the new gear and weapons in Year Two. I enjoyed my Year One gear during Year One.

I'm not anymore once they release the expansion. I'll be back in 8-9 years when the game's complete if it's still active.

Yeah they want mindless sheep apparently. And it likely wouldn't take me more than a year to play through ten years worth of content at the rate they're going. After all there will be a buff that automatically levels me up to Year 10 levels and gives me appropriately based gear so it wouldn't take long to get back into shape.

Everyone learned the word sheep one day and now it's used so heavily lol But hey that's cool! I'll take my fun every year with friends and you can have yours all in year 10. No shame in that. :)
