Well you can still wear the gear you have on now when Taken King comes out but the new armor will have higher DEFENSE stats then what you have right now. But don't dismantle your old weapons and armor just yet. Bungie

Ohhhh ok, so new gear will be better, however I should still hold onto my favorite stuff.
