I have an even better question. If you're NOT buying Taken King, why do you give a $hit what happens to your characters? One would assume you aren't purchasing new content because you're done playing, not that you're so cheap you're just going to keep playing the old nightfalls and strikes rather than pony up forty bucks for a new game.
