The real problem is that the new guns are generally mediocre compared to the older weapons.
That's now how expansions are supposed to work. Proper MMO-esque games introduce exciting, worthwhile new equipment that doesn't make players feel bad about putting down their older gear.
Destiny failed at this miserably due to bad design choices, especially by making some of the early Year 1 weapons so good and backtracking on this decision.

I think you are over-dramatizing. If Bungie 'failed miserably,' we wouldn't be having this conversation. Being that they have been quite vocal about acknowledging the things that could have been done better, I don't know how anyone could do anything other than wait to see if they succeeded.

Edited by Swiftlock: 8/6/2015 11:16:43 PMMmmnope. I'm pretty right. Bungie failed miserably with the gear progression, regardless of how you try to spin it. Hopefully, they get their act together and make proper successors to our best gear in TTK. That's how expansions are supposed to work.

Fatebringer is just so good, but they have yet to do something this clever since black hammer. If they would, that would be great. I wouldn't mind putting it down, but you have to look at the POE weapons. Are they as good? No way in hell! They have a perk specifically for fallen that replaces an actual perk slot instead of doing what the other raids have done, add one to it! NOT cool!

If Taken King is going to be good, let them let us all wear eachother's class items (Titan with Warlock Bond OR Hunter cloak, visa-versa). I have considerable doubts about Bungie and their future. Oh, and Halo Wars 2 was announced recently. Details below.
I'd like to see non-Exotic enemy weapons that we could use, and would behave in ways we would not expect, and more weapons that are different, like a scout rifle with a shotgun charge-up mode, or a Fusion that can fire without charging (NOT Vex; charging this weapon would hyper-power the shot, all fusions should really be 'no charge = shotgun, some charge = Normal Fusion, full charge = Rocket launcher' or very similar), or even just bring ALL commons, uncommons, rares, legendaries to a more balanced field by giving each type something that makes them work keeping them with you, even if it's just to hybridize them (cannibalizes numerous weapons to form something new and horrifying, like a Scout-fusion rifle (tapping fires single shot, fast fire rate, can charge as fusion does and do Fusion damage level).
