I agree with your second point, but disagree with the first. Weapons in Destiny aren't nearly as personal as you'd think they'd be (except for exotics, which I assume are coming with us). You could hand me any legendary, and I could pick out 3 or 4 other guns that perform nearly identically to it, to the point where you wouldn't honestly be able to tell the difference if the weapon switched skins with the original. So while you're favorite gun may not be coming along, a re-skinned version of it will be.
I'll admit this doesn't apply to all raid weapons (like Fatebringer or Black Hammer), but that's all the more reason why they have to be phased out to prevent power creep.

My Adept Primaries are very, very personal. Stats, perks, visuals- and, most importantly, their meaning. It's not just about how they perform, man. They're special to me.

But when TTK drops there will undoubtedly be other weapon very similar to, if not statistically the same as, the messenger.
-
That's the problem. You made them special. All the guns in this game aren't even really special, just a few and that's it
-
And why do you think those select few are special? Isn't that just your opinion?
-
No, your definition of special is different from I what I refer to special. I should of said unique in my first comment. They are different and have actual abilities unique only to that weapon. You throw special on your guns because you have feelings tied to them. This is fact.

My Adept Messenger is only obtainable from The Lighthouse. That's special and unique. :P
