My whole thing to the "other stuff does it" is that it's piss poor logic to think like that. Because it's always been done that way doesn't make it right. "Don't you think having slaves is wrong?" "But we've always had slaves." I know it's a radical example, but it hits the point home. The issue is we've grown so fond of our weapons because they are the only defining qualities our character has. Practically never speaks, zero character development. The weapons are the personality. To strip them away makes our year one triumphs feel meaningless. I remember when I first started when I saw players with the raid weapons and armor. I viewed them as gods. They had seen and done things I hadn't. It defined their guardian to me. Telling us we've gained nothing but memories over the new incoming players just doesn't sit right with me. That, and they will never experience the vault or crota in any way like we did.
