This is not my post. This comes from someone else called zI INFINITY Iz.
He gets the idea.
Let me explain something
If you are worried that "what you grind for now gets replaced in the future", wait for Year 10 and start playing.
The idea is this. Each year you should have fun playing the game, obtaining the best weapons everybody hunts and using them while they are relevant. You may get lucky and get that Taken King exotic faster then anybody else. You enjoy being a snowflake for a while, but at the end of Year 2 everybody has it. Then it starts again and you get the chance to be a snowflake again.
How cool was it when you got Black Hammer? People were jealous of you, you were valuable if you had one at the beginning of TDB. Remember when you got Gjallarhorn for the first time? Yeah, that was awesome. In Year 2, you can basically experience these moments again, because we leave old stuff behind and boost the value of new stuff.
In the end, what's the fun if everybody is way to comfortable with the current arsenal of weapons. In Year 2, we get thrown back into the deep, needing to hunt new weapons and armor. You saw how boring House of Wolves became, because everybody was already done (weapon wise) on launch day. Just ascend your old weapons and that's it.
If you can't see the reasoning behind Bungie's decision, wait 8 more years and start playing when Year 10 starts. Because that makes a lot of sense.
If you still don't like it, fine, but this is how Destiny is going to continue in the future.
