In Year 2, you can basically experience these moments again, because we leave old stuff behind and boost the value of new stuff. You saw how boring House of Wolves became, because everybody was already done (weapon wise) on launch day. Just ascend your old weapons and that's it. If you can't see the reasoning behind Bungie's decision, wait 8 more years and start playing when Year 10 starts.
