You clearly have no real game time on a MMORPG I have logged YEARS of my life on one of those things and it gitbits claws in as deep as it can get. As for a dps point and click, its exactly the same principle as the attack value on your gun and they fo feel and play differently even if the weapon is in the same weapon class. Your first point is mute as it just shows that you don't have a full understanding of what a mmo is. Destiny is a fpsmmorpg just when they Sat down to figure out how to rob us of our cash they figured that the fps console players that have no real concept of pay to play and get constant updates for content, it was concluded that they would not pay for it. However if you package the same data as DLC then it will sell. On average Destiny is about £5 to 7 quid a month but you don't see this as its called the dark below, the house of wolves and now the taken king. If you are happy thinking that its not a mmo because it's a fps then more fool you. All the weapons and armour are totally 100% comparable to rpgs. As are the phasieing dynamics, I am on board with you that it sucks but your trashing of mmo is gravely mistaken.

  • How is the OPs point mute, seems yours is to me. He clearly stated this is not an MMORPG, na dits not, no matter how much you want to pretend it is. Having little boxes to signify a weapon doesn't make it an MMORPG. Destiny is a FPS, a diverse FPS with gun and guardian level, as well as other features. The OPs point makes more sense than any explanation thus far, in that, weapons that you are actually firing in a FPS are much different than simply clicking something for dps to occur. With a weapon you deal with recoil, fir rate, missing shots, getting hit and flinching from the damage you take, etc. All of these features affect which guns are loved by which people, and which guns they like to use. For example, many people love thorn, i personally hate it. Hate how it fires, hate that its got aim assist out the ass, hate that its an easy firing hand cannon for beginners. I much prefer the Hawkmoon and am much better with it. I also like the lot of legendary HCs i have, with some that i like much more than others in aspects of firing, recoil, perks etc. Also he is not trashing MMO's he is simply stating, which i agree, that destiny is not an MMO so stop saying it should be just like WoW. Go ask 100 people that quit WoW why they quit, many of them will tell you its because they kept having to start over after putting in so much work. Stating over with boxes that you click for something to happen on screen is different than firing a weapon, jumping to evade shots, aiming down site, etc. All MMO's are are point and click, and point and click faster. FPS's take into account the feeling of the items being used and create a fluid style of gameplay for each individual based on their play style.

  • Whether or not we call it an MMO, isn't really the issue though. He was saying that the weapons we have are more than just static stats that are all the same on the guns we press a button on. because of the attachments, each gun is fundamentally from each other. For example, someone with a headseeker outlaw super pox is going to have a completely different gun from someone with a reactive reload glass half full super pox. The thing is that for alot of us, we see identity in these weapons. Be it good or bad. Where as in most MMOs they were just stat bonuses. Which in the previous regard is something destiny did right. What they are doing wrong here is giving us that sense of identity and promptly taking it away from us in a misguided attempt to keep the game "fresh". If they keep pumping out new guns with good attachments, people will continue to expand and improve their arsenal, keeping the vintage and the new, picking only the most choice weapons, and that's really what it should be, right?

  • In most mmo you can customize your gear, I am not saying that he hasn't got a point but am saying that saying it's not like a mmo is wrong. You pay for it every 3 to four months, your gear gets phased out in the same time and your custom stats you spent that time working your ass off for are now pointless. Thus keeping you grinding. It's a cycle that is there to keep us all playing and the fps is a nice twist to it all. However its not a traditional mmo by far.

  • It's not a traditional MMO, but they are just as hell trying to make it one pull stunts like this.
