How is the OPs point mute, seems yours is to me. He clearly stated this is not an MMORPG, na dits not, no matter how much you want to pretend it is. Having little boxes to signify a weapon doesn't make it an MMORPG. Destiny is a FPS, a diverse FPS with gun and guardian level, as well as other features. The OPs point makes more sense than any explanation thus far, in that, weapons that you are actually firing in a FPS are much different than simply clicking something for dps to occur. With a weapon you deal with recoil, fir rate, missing shots, getting hit and flinching from the damage you take, etc. All of these features affect which guns are loved by which people, and which guns they like to use. For example, many people love thorn, i personally hate it. Hate how it fires, hate that its got aim assist out the ass, hate that its an easy firing hand cannon for beginners. I much prefer the Hawkmoon and am much better with it. I also like the lot of legendary HCs i have, with some that i like much more than others in aspects of firing, recoil, perks etc. Also he is not trashing MMO's he is simply stating, which i agree, that destiny is not an MMO so stop saying it should be just like WoW. Go ask 100 people that quit WoW why they quit, many of them will tell you its because they kept having to start over after putting in so much work. Stating over with boxes that you click for something to happen on screen is different than firing a weapon, jumping to evade shots, aiming down site, etc. All MMO's are are point and click, and point and click faster. FPS's take into account the feeling of the items being used and create a fluid style of gameplay for each individual based on their play style.
