But destiny is also an RPG. In RPGs, you graduate from gear set to gear set, we did this when we went from common to uncommon to rare to legendary. Another facet of that is going from year one to year two, and in destiny's case, they're releasing a heap (we hope) of new stuff for us to use. You can still certainly use your prized weapons (in my case, Timur's Lash) in the crucible or in lower level encounters.
While they may be doing away with our light levels and such, the damage of your weapons will still be adjusted depending on the level of your character and the enemies, that's why we can still use 300 capped legendaries in 28 POE, or what have you, and still perform well.
I don't see the leaving behind of gear as a good thing or a bad thing, it just is what it is. I'm going to miss my old guns to some extent, but I'm absolutely stoked to get some sweet looking weapons from the foundries!
Instead of griping about it, why don't we see how it turns out before we start shaking our fists in the air?
