I'd ask you one question in order to help you clarify your feelings: The fact exists that in the last year, you have encountered weapons or gear that got you excited. With that in mind - if Bungie was able to approach loot in a way that maintained, restored or increased your excitement, possibly in a way you have not yet considered, would that work for you? If the answer is yes (or even a 'yes, but'), then its Bungie's ball to drop - and you'll know soon enough if they succeeded for you. If your answer is no, then I maintain that you would have never made it through an entire 10-year cycle, and Bungie shouldn't even try to keep you engaged. Being "the only guy who has (insert weapon here)" is not enough of a differentiator to keep anyone engaged for a decade.

 • I'm not going to stay engaged to a game that forces me to start over every three months. That's not fun at all.

 • Well, hopefully "starting over" is a matter of perception. :-)

 • Start on a new set of missions, where I earn gear that will let me beat the end game. Anything I picked u beforehand gets discarded in favor of new things. Unfortunately, to me, that's starting over. Why can't we just have New Game+? Move on to the next mode, but we get to keep our current stuff as is? It would be like starting NG+ on Dark Souls and fighting enemies built for +15, or +5 magic weapons with base items again, I wouldn't look forward to losing my babies.

 • Yeah, for me "starting over" means you have to start a new character. Everything else is me, participating in a developer's vision. I do get where you're coming from; I just don't think the transition is going to be as abrupt as folks think it will be, that's all.

 • If it means my year of progress and supporting this game is essentially voided, I will calmly flip my sh*t and find another developers vision to support. I'd rather grind in a game that lets me keep my trophies, like monster hunter.

 • I getcha - I'm just about whether it's excellent enough to maintain my mindshare. If it doesn't, it doesn't - its all about the net experience.

 • Very true. We'll see what happens. Hopefully it's not dark below 2.0

 • This is another reason why I can't stand comparisons between MMOs and Destiny; even though MMO expansions may outdate old gear, they come out on a yearly, or even bi-yearly basis, which gives players tons of time to experience everything. But outdating gear after 3 months? Crazy.

 • Like I've said to other people; overall, I'm REALLY excited by what I've seen from TTK so far. The new gear, new mechanics, new enemies, new areas, etc.. It looks like the game Destiny was supposed to be from Day 1, and that's awesome! My issue is that I've been excited about gear in every DLC so far- and Bungie didn't need to make my old gear worse to make that happen! Even when they added ascension, and I had upgraded all of my old gear, I still wanted the new stuff! Matador, Eye of Sol, the Adept Primaries, etc.. I already get excited for new gear, so I don't know why Bungie seems to think that players aren't capable of loving old gear AND new gear! :P

 • I think that's a perfectly reasonable approach. And, I might add that I hate the idea of having to hold a moment of silence for my Devil you Know. :-)
