Why are people instantly assuming that all gear will be left behind. I'm sure there will be a way to upgrade it.

Deej did say not to dismantle anything just yet, and I can't remember exactly the other thing he said but it did suggest maybe in the next dlc we might be able to ascend stuff.

it's been confirmed on several destiny podcast that the legendary guns won't. I think it came from an interview at gamescon with destiny where they said it.
