By definition Destiny is considered an MMO.
"A video games capable of supporting large amount of players simultaneously".
I see your point, but Destiny is a game that is always changing. And changes will bring new weapons into the game. Weapons that will be better than the previous ones. If Destiny kept allowing you to ascend weapons from the previous year, it would completely defeat the purpose of adding better content and weapons.
In 10 years I don't want to be using Fatebringer, Black Hammer, and Gjallahorn for everything.
EDIT: It seems that people are comparing my definitions of an MMO to other FPS like Halo, CoD, and Battlefield.
Also, Destiny is not anything like PlanetSide 2, but they are both clarify as MMOFPS
Let me clarify something. Some MMOs can have servers that can hold thousands of players at one time. However some MMOs differ. This is the definition provided by the Internet. Destiny may not be able to hold many players in one server but it can hold massive amounts of players through other servers. With that being said, I'm not saying that CoD, Battlefield and Halo are MMOs. Many MMOs contain team oriented endgame experiences. Destiny has strikes and raids. ESO has dungeons. Etc Etc. I am not saying that FPS are MMOs because they lack the endgame content that destiny has.
