That's a long as post for this
Old Legendary Weapons and Armor need to be able to continue ascending. That is how many of us feel, and that is not going to change. End of story.
Actually I may come off as disrespectful but I genuinely want to say that I appreciate you saying that is how many people "feel". Simple thing is I understand why so many people want to keep old gear, hell I still have the supremacy from that Queen's Wrath event in week 3, and I love it. But here is the thing, This is an RPG, I know fancy guns and grenades make people get distracted from this and sometimes its hard to tell but it IS an RPG, and the simple fact is there is no RPG that lets you bring up beginner content to end-game, now there is transmogrification, and according to the gameinformer interview you will be able to change the looks of items by sacrificing other items in the same slot, so there's that. Also you are not being forced to dismantle your old gear, its still perfectly viable in crucible and in lower-end content, a lot of us with the stranger's rifle know exactly how this feels. And who knows maybe some day in the future they let us do something, but the simple thing is at the end of the day molds don't break so easily, and this is how RPGs work, and petitioning and acting spoiled and needy about it isn't going to change anything, its just going to make things worse.

  • I've never encountered an RPG where you couldn't ask questions of NPCs. But there is an RPG concept that is applicable. Signature gear. Your ancestral sword will never becomes obsolete, the spaceship you won in a poker game will never be scrapped. My Super Pox VLO had been with my character since week one, and accounts for over half his total kills. That right there is signature gear.

  • This is not an RPG.

  • Strictly speaking just about any game where you have multiple character classes to pick from as your main character COULD be considered an RPG in my book, But that's not really the point. BUNGIE SAID this wasn't supposed to be 'one of those games'. They wanted us to build 'legendary' characters. It was their reasoning for not putting a trading system of any kind in it. It's hard to 'build' something when they keep coming behind us and knocking it down.

  • No it just has all the elements of one. And you are not an idiot.

  • What RPG elements does it have? I'm curious what you think about that.

  • A leveling system that directly affects the player, a loot system based off RNG. Also has free roaming elements. Yes Destiny is a fps, but it is also rpg styled.

  • Dead Island/Dying Light are both the same way. That's not considered an RPG, though. Anything else?

They actually are by many reviewers. Only an idiot says Destiny is not an RPG. It has also been called an mmo.

  • Never said it was a rpg. Just rpg styled. Also the ability to create your own character, although limited options in my tastes.

  • Its not that Destiny is special in some sense or that its "new" either. I wouldn't call those RPG specific elements, I mean at this day and age in gaming, those aspects are pretty common across the various genres.

  • True. But borderlands is considered an rpg, despite being semi linear like Destiny. I don't consider Destiny a rpg despite it having a rpg feel. I rest my case. Going on a tangent, as much as I am excited for taken king, once fallout 4 comes out I'm dropping Destiny for maybe 2 months.
