I had the same thought. I have three 34s. But right now, they are all 33 because I am upgrading stuff I don't usually wear.
In an extreme case, I could be level 20 if I wanted.
I guess I will make sure I have my good armor on in mid September :) Though they probably took this into account, why take chances.

I'd keep your highest level armor on just in case. The info is in a IGN interview with DeeJ if you want to check it out yourself. It's on YouTube, I don't remember the link though.
