The car speeds along various side streets on a seemingly random course. Eventually, it stops at a pier. Forrest steps out, and directs Crow to a humongous, black, oblong shape, floating seemingly by itself on the water. A hatch atop the column opens. A steel ladder descends into the ship. [b]Come on, then.[/b]

The submarine moves beneath them, headed out to sea.

Some hours later, the ship docks. The hatch opens, and the pair exit. Forrest directs Crow along a hallway until they reach a large briefing room. A single man, in military garb similar to the NATO forces of Earth from 1980 to 1990, sits at the table. In fact, there isn't a single piece of equipment, tech, or equipment from after the year 1995. The man stands as Crow and Forrest enter. [b]I assume you are the field agent for General Wolfe's outfit? How is he doing?[/b]

The man smiles and extends a hand. [b]That sounds like something he'd say. I'm General Thornton, and this is Aqua Site. We've called you here for one simple reason: your organization may be under threat from extremely powerful extraplanetary beings. We want to help you avoid that threat.[/b]

Those "rifts" are fully controlled by the aircraft itself. Actually, what you're seeing is the aircraft teleporting, or warping. The effect that appears like a rift happens because of the aircraft's speed and the necessary process of moving the molecules of the aircraft and the pilot safely. The same effect happens with ships when they are teleporting, mass and speed also being factors.

Rift system's not been fielded by anyone but us. Most others use a warp system that moves into other dimensions.

Without proper system technology, anything that attempts to come through will be destroyed at a molecular level. We lost several aircraft and pilots while first fielding our technology as such.

Trust me, we've seen it. I'm sure your "gods" aren't stupid. They'll find another way, an easier way, like the same way they came in the first place, through cults.

It took us three weeks to rehabilitate this stuff, and the only way we found any of it at all was because of a cult summoning event. We've spent a week restoring it. Reality is like a curtain to the Elder Gods. They operate outside it, literally warping physics and the quantum realms to their rules as they pass.[/b]
