Not sure where all the aggression is coming from. I think it is shocking that they have done so few raids. It IS their job to play the bejesus out of this game, how else will they understand what's great and what's not so great? And deej plays just a warlock and cozmo just a hunter? What's that all about?

  • The CMs job isn't to play the game or even be knowledgeable about it, while it does help, it's not requieed. Their job is akin to that of a pr manager, it essentially has 3 roles : read the forums daily to identify complaints, they ave to evaluate these complaints and try to understand the motivation. Is this thread people complaining for the sake of complaining? Is this the expected reaction for any change in the game? Then they have to translate the post to weed out trolls and focus on the good feedback from all sides of the issue to prepare a summary to deliver to the devs. after all, issues happen frequently in large gamex, sometimes it's a tiny bug that slipped by bug gesting, it happens.then hardest part of the CM’s job: communicating the developer’s response back to the community in a way that doesn’t cause more problems. In all honesty they don't have much control over the game, that's up to the devs. Not just anyone can be a CM, it's a hard and demanding job and most of the time, they're just casual players, who're not required to play the game alot. Just enough to know it. tl;dr Deej has a hard job, doesn't involve having to get the emblem or raid if he doesn't want to.

I don't accept that at all. How can someone represent the "community" and tell whether complaints are "real" or not if he does not play the game extensively? Makes no sense whatever imo.

  • Contrary to popular belief his job is not to play the bejesus out of the game, he won't be fired if he doesn't he doesn't get bonuses if he does.

  • Are you a community manager? Do you have a copy of Deejs job description?

Yes I have been a community manager before, and I have friends who are community managers. I can say for one that they're job does not require them to be good at the game or play it frequently. Their jobs are to manage the forums and send summaries of player feedback to the developers who have that final say.

  • Easy his job isn't to represent us it's to represent the company/devs . All he has to do is analyze the situation read every post extrapolate information to bring to the devs who'll then make the decision to act on it or not. A cm really has no say in game design/developent because they're specialty is in communications/marketing that's why most CMs have a marketing/pr/communication degree

My point is he can't represent anyone to anyone else credibly if he does not play the game extensively. And if deej has a PR degree (do they really exist?) then that should be stating the bleedin' obvious. Sorry if coming across aggro but I've not played destiny for a week and I'm all jumpy. Tried smoking crack but it's just not the same.

  • Cracks no use. Take some acid and go down a big hill in a shopping cart. It's like doing the gate Lord bounty if you're wasted enough.

Why not? He's relaying messages back and forth in the most efficient way that doesn't upset players and gets the message across. Gimme one example where you'd have to know the game extensively, to relay messages. Also there are ways other than playing the game to learn it extensively. He's just the messenger basically.

You said he acts as a filter. If he did not, for example, experience the massive ball ache that crota hard was for weeks and weeks due to glitches then how does he know we're not all just moaning for no reason? How would he understand what a pain it was to grind materials? Why do we have to fly to the tower every time we want to swap a gun? Why don't we have enough space in our vaults? That's a very obvious point, I don't really understand why you don't see it. Bungie's PR on destiny has been an absolute disaster. Deej is the fall guy for that (though honourable mention to the throw money at the screen guy) and that is not 100% deserved. But play the bloody game, at least we'd think he understood what the issues are and cut him some slack.

He would know that because of all the complaints about it, usually if multiple threads pop up about the same issue, generally it's worth mentioning to the devs and is not hitching and moaning. Also it's possible that deej didn't have time to go do crota hard when it came out for instance, after all his job doesn't involve playing the game at work unless it's for things like gamescom, public showing of co.tent etc... The first few weeks of a new expansion in an mmo is the most busiest times for CM and your other points anyone playing casually would understand that

  • Exactly. These are the people going to bat for us at Bungie meetings about the game. I just want them to have experienced all of it. And I'm more then willing to help a fellow guardian push back the darkness on hard mode.

So do I but I've played a lot more than either of them and I'm not paid to be an expert/spokesman on destiny! I'm not saying they need to do this 24/7, of course not. But completed crota once (and not even on hard)? That's crazy. Crota hard was the single most frustrating thing I have done in destiny, but we kept going night after night for hours at a time. They (or at least deej) should have been doing the same, being insta whacked by a suddenly upright crota at 2 in the morning. Then they might better understand why there is periodically such a lot of anger directed at this fantastic game. They can do what they like, they're grown ups, but it just shocked me how little they have actually played.

  • Put like that I totally understand what you're saying. Crota was a nightmare at first with all the bugs. Can't argue with you on that bud.
