Catholics are listed separately to Christians? Christianity: A religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ, or its beliefs and practices. Catholicism: based on the person and teachings of Jesus Christ.

  • You obviously have extreme bias. Bias so extreme as to be laughable and preposterous. Let's talk about your "poll"....your first choice says: Christians (follows the bible) yet also says: Catholics (follows the bible and apocrypha) 1) Catholics don't "follow" the apocrypha. You fail right off the bat in your equation that it's even remotely close to the same way that Mormons actually "follow" the Book of Mormon. 2) "Roman Catholics", "Byzantine Orthodox", "Protestant" are all "catholic" the word means universal. Don't believe me? Go look it up for yourself. 3) You can't include all the various Judaisms in this? Laughable, since BOTH Christianity and Islam would not exist if "Abraham" hadn't purportedly spoke one on one with God.... You have no scope, no sense of context. Do some more homework before spouting off your ignorance.

  • No they're not... Catholicism came into being with the conversion of Emperor Constantine, who wanted Christianity to appeal to the pagans (ie. Veneration of Mary=Isis worship, Saints=Pagan Gods, etc.)

You got most of your facts straight....except your assertion that Catholics aren't Christians (if I'm reading right, or you're disagreeing that Catholics are OG **my words**) the word 'catholic' simply means universal. The conversion of Constantine changed "Christianity" from a backwater breakaway Jewish sect to what it is now. It's entirely realistic that had that never happened I would probably have been raised either under some traditional Roman belief system or Islamic, cause I hope we can agree that Judaic proselytizing just isn't on the same level as that of Christianity or Islam. The word "catholic" simply means universal.

  • John MacArthur? Seriously? That guy is a Protestant pastor and has openly said that the Pope is the antichrist. I don't understand why he thinks he can talk with any moral authority over Catholics when he holds very strong fundamentalist views. Christian fundamentalists are some of the most hateful people this side of extremist Islam. They believe that just being homosexual is wrong, that women are inferior, and that anyone who isn't a Christian will burn for all eternity. John MacArthur teaches that women should 'submit in every way [they] can', and he encourages parents to disown their homosexual children. Find me a non-biased source, and then we'll talk. At the end of the day, whether Catholics are Christian is still a debated topic. I don't know why, though, since the dictionary definitions of the word 'Christian' and 'Christianity' fit Catholicism to the letter. It matters not how 'false' or 'sinful' Catholic gospels are, the definition still fits. It's just some small-denomination pastors who find flimsy theological reasons that don't stand up to scrutiny. Just for the record, I'm an agnostic atheist and I believe that nothing can be known about the nature of God to the puny human mind. If there is a God, that is.
John MacArthur? Seriously? That guy is a Protestant pastor...
I'm pretty sure that they're a non-denomination.
...and has openly said that the Pope is the antichrist.
He actually stated that the Pope possesses the spirit and the described role as the Anti-Christ, not that the Pope is thee Anti-Christ for even the Bible states there are more than one individual who possess this attitude of being anti-Christ, like are most aggressive atheistic skeptics.
I don't understand why he thinks he can talk with any moral authority over Catholics when he holds very strong fundamentalist views.
That's the perfect kind of Christian, one who fully submits to the inerrancy of Scripture. Unlike the followers of Catholicism, they add to the dogma of orthodox Christianity, which MacArthur is against.
Christian fundamentalists are some of the most hateful people [on] this side of extremist Islam.
What? Islam is no Christianity.
They believe that just being homosexual is wrong...
It is, genius.
...that women are inferior...
Women are by far not inferior. MacArthur supports the Bible's dictation that women pastors are unbiblical, and that Christian wives are to be obedient to their husbands. How is that inferior? There isn't any amount of social injustice there.
...and that anyone who isn't a Christian will burn for all eternity.
What do you think Christianity is?
John MacArthur teaches that women should submit...
...to their husbands only. Issue?
...and he encourages parents to disown their homosexual children.
That's Biblically supported. How is that an issue?
Find me a non-biased source, and then we'll talk.
You really mean, "Find me a source that tolerates homosexuals, women pastors, and the justified right for Christian wives to disobey their husbands." MacArthur is the exemplary version of an orthodox Christian. A Christian who doesn't deviate from the ordinances that were instructed in the Bible that manifested from the churches that were created by the early Christian martyrs.
At the end of the day, whether Catholics are Christian is still a debated topic.
It's debated because the Catholic Church initiated a set of dogmas that are never mentioned in scripture: Celibacy, purgatory, sacraments, rosaries, priests, relics, etc. They're very, very fond of mammals traditions that have no Biblical ground, and guess what, the majority of Catholic followers don't even know why themselves.
I don't know why; though, since the dictionary definitions of the word 'Christian' and 'Christianity' fit Catholicism to the letter, it matters not how 'false' or 'sinful' Catholic gospels are, the definition still fits.
The secular definition fits, but when you compare the Catholic dogma to the theology supported to the Bible's canon, it doesn't sync.
It's just some small-denomination pastors who find flimsy, theological reasons that don't stand up to scrutiny.
What? That last sentence is a self-defeating statement.
Just for the record, I'm an agnostic atheist and I believe that nothing can be known about the nature of God to the puny human mind. If there is a God, that is.
Correction: If there is a God, He would have the pre-conceived notion to give His creation the ability to know Him through the compilation of witnesses accounts of Him, of what He said, and of what He did. It literally isn't difficult.

  • Protestants are a cult created by people, that the teachings of the Catholic church did not benefit them so they created their own churches with their own teachings, Protestants are a cult

  • That's why actual Christians go by the nomination of Christian. As you said? Also, by definition, Protestantism isn't a cult. It's actually the name given to the group of individuals who promulgated the news that Catholicism is not the same as Christianity.

  • No. Christians were entitled Christians according to the NT theology. Catholicism was never as intimate or as substantiated as the early church was in the Bible.
