As Burris Gilby, the innkeeper, stumps by on his cane, he sticks his head inside the open door. You young folk should be abed by now. Don't ye worry, I'll keep the watch. Goodnight! The innkeeper chalks a small sign on each door he passes. The symbol resembles an eye surrounded by a star, and when you close the door, you feel the presence recede, as if the symbol is warding it off.

Jaque waits for night to fall and sneaks out of the room to investigate that presence while having Jade stay in the hotel room.
