I don't see why inverted is a bad thing, I invert the y axis all the time for me.

If you play inverted its not an issue. If you normally play not inverted you need to get used to it.

I don't understand why you'd use it in a shooter. I can understand the whole "tilt your head back to look up" thing in some games but you don't directly draw the back of a gun down to aim up. You hold up the goddamn weight of the gun in the direction you wish to shoot.
