Edit -----Just to clarify, I would love to see more people going to the lighthouse. I just find it distasteful to charge someone to take them there.-----
Edit - looks like the Devs are listening "Be extra careful of people advertising their services, especially for a fee." They have mentioned suspension and bans!
The lighthouse solution, how can you increase difficulty for some as a REWARD for being flawless whilst making it more difficult to carry multiple people through (especially for cold hard cash).
So... When you complete the trials you could receive the Faded light of Osiris buff, dropping you 1 level (eg dropping from 34 to 33 within ToO only) per visit within ToO until reset, however increasing your chances at receiving great loot from drops!
More challenge, fewer re runs and MORE hard earned loot.
What do you all think?
-
My thoughts are that ToO should be rumble only, no fireteams of 3, just solo players. 5 x 3 minute matches per round. After 5 rounds the top 3 go through without a loss, for the bottom 3 it counts as a loss. If you are in the top 3 consistently for 9 rounds then it's a flawless, off to the light house you go. You can still have boon and mercy. Top players will always be at the top, good players have a good chance and poor players haven't earned it. Having Rumble without fireteams ensures no one can be carried and also cuts out the ridiculous demands made on LFG groups..

Edited by Mach 6: 8/13/2015 8:37:38 PMI play trials after i go 9-0 to ruin scorecards.....
which technically is a good thing if people are doing this
-
I think this would be more fixed via a separate bracket that the game will put you in depending on your current scorecard for the week. If you've been flawless, you can't play with or against people who haven't been flawless for that week. This restricts the community created pay to win system, which is awful, and also restricts people ruining other people's attempts, either of sadistic nature or because they think Trials is just fun. Cons are that this separates the community, and good natured people who don't require payment, like Planet Destiny, can't bring people through the Thorny rosebush. Maybe there's no way to fix it. I don't know.

The number of players getting carried is far less than the legit players who enjoy running trials. They should not be punished for doing a good job either.
-
Who cares? So what if scrub players get good weapons/gear. Are you saying you will lose to them because they have the same gear as you? I just don't understand how it affects anyone. If a person is truly being 'carried' you should be able to beat that team. 3 good players vs 2 good players and you have the advantage man. People earn their money , and of course those same people have the right to use that money on whatever they feel appropriate. How dare you sit and judge somebody for how they use their own hard earned cash. I get help every week on trials. I've never paid for it , but I've had the option to 'donate'. If money weren't an issue I probably would. I'm very poor at pvp and I promise you when I'm being 'carried' if I don't get my kills , assists , and contribute we lose. You should be happy to run into a team that's 'carrying' another player. Diagnose it and ignore them because they're not a threat right? 3 vs 2 like I said.

Stupid people will still be stupid
-
I hate the idea of being able to pay to win. On twitch you can potentially pay/donate to a steamer to be invited to their fireteam and carried through trials that way. What sucks is that this might lead to the devs wanting to cash in on this idea as well in the form of micro transactions for in game consumable items that buff weapon damage or armor, etc. Horrible ideas born from mmos.

Edited by The Zodiac Brave: 8/13/2015 8:21:48 PMIt's not a bad idea. I'd just rather see them implement an improved version of the halo 2 skill based matchmaking system. Now, it's true that the focus on connection makes iron banner and TOO much more lag free (sometimes), but I feel like a consistent connection and a good game (one where neither team gets crushed for five rounds straight) should not be an 'either or' situation. Keep in mind, I said an improved version of the skill based ranking system. I'm well aware that the halo 2 system had some glaring problems of its own. In the end, I think close matches are far more fun for everyone. If you lose every time, that sucks. But, if you crush the other team every game, that can get boring after a while as well.

Why are people so desperate to go flawless?
-
They way bungie work, everyone will be given free access to the lighthouse soon anyway.
-
You should all be ashamed of yourselves for taking money to help ppl get to the lighthouse. Your worse than bungievision
-
The getting rid of light levels so NO
-
I don't understand this obsession with people like you that worry about how other people get to the Lighthouse. I am one of those players who runs my own cards Friday nights with "my boys" and then, for the rest of the weekend, HELP, NOT carry all kinds of friends get their flawless cards... some pay me and some don't... I don't care. The thing is that it is still a TEAM game type which means that it requires all 3 of us to do our part to ensure victory. At the end of the day, NONE of us have gotten to the Lighthouse alone. The term "carry" is just an opinion... and it's an arbitrary one at that. When you add in the fact that visits to the Lighthouse are not a zero sum game... meaning that another player's visit there changes absolutely NOTHING about your potential... you should just stop whining and being petty about other players' choices on how they play the game.

Good idea, good name, bump
-
Sounds good to me
-
That seems pretty extreme. Look ive met the people who were obviously carried through trials they suck. I am not the best pvper so i shouldnt be doing better than people with the flawless emblem. Im fine with people having the emblem if it somehow validates them. As for the payment thing well if you have to pay some to carry you l, you kinda just suck or lack basic social skills
-
I suck at Crucible so I don't even attempt ToO lol. I don't care what goes on Trials...
-
Edited by Unforgiven: 8/12/2015 1:42:55 AMI believe they figured out the damage difference between a 33 and 34 and it was only like 1%. Btw I never seen this pay to play thing. People actually pay to get to the lighthouse?
-
I've taken several of my friends through ToO gone 9-0 more times than was worth it, so I say if you suck at pvp get some friends who aren't garbage and boom you're good paying to win is sad
-
Can you explain it differently?
-
https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/145870807/0/0 Not everyone is like that you know...
-
As much as I want to get to the lighthouse I'd never pay. It's not that serious. I'll just stick to getting my 6-7 wins with randoms until i form a consistent team and get better. I'm sure it'll feel better in the end. Even though the weapons won't be relevant come taken King.

This dosnt make sense
