Oh, I completely acknowledge that. But there's a big difference between saying, "Destiny is an RPG game" and saying "Destiny is a shared-world first person shooter/action game with elements of role playing games and loot-driven activities." The difference is, if you removed all of the RPG elements from Destiny, it would still be Destiny.
More to the point here, the weapons and gear are way more than math delivery systems, as you would see in a typical RPG game (and for which ChefJake1, and many others who also are wrong, is arguing). The weapons and gear carry much of the FPS and action game experience, and in any FPS game, the cardinal development rule is "Don't touch my favorite gun."
Bungie is breaking that rule after they said they learned from their mistakes and pledged not to do it again.
All of this means that the "this is typical for an RPG game" arguments are not only invalid but also irrelevant.
